Active Ingredients:
Glycolic Acid 7% - This ingredient dissolves the intercellular cement responsible for abnormal keratinization. In acne prone skin, this is of particular importance as the pore is clogged and filled with keratinized dead cells. Glycolic acid helps with dry and oil conditions alike. It dissolves the dry and thick layers of skin and unclogs the pores as well as helping other nourishing products and ingredients to penetrate. The stimulation achieved by a therapeutic glycolic product also increases circulation, smoothes uneven skin, and improves the overall function of the skin. Another well-known benefit of Glycolic acid is its ability to dissolve and lighten surface hyperpigmentation, often seen in acne- prone skin.
Lactic Acid 7% - An alpha hydroxy acid derived from sour milk. Lactic Acid has been used for centuries to relieve dry, aged skin. Lactic Acid has better water intake than glycerin and studies have reported that it has the ability to increase the “water holding” capacity in the corneum layer as well as improve the elasticity of the skin. Clinical studies report that Lactic Acid concentrations of between 5% and 12% offer an improvement in softening the skin and refining wrinkles. It is also less irritating on sensitive or dry skin than some of the other AHA ingredients.
Witch Hazel (hamamelis virginiana) - Known for its astringent properties. It is also toning, anti-inflammatory, and regulating. Derived from the bark and leaves of the tree, it has a proficient vasoconstrictor affect that is excellent for inflamed, irritated or acneic skin conditions. Research has shown that Witch Hazel is effective against free radical damage and acts as a UVA and UVB absorber. It is also used in ointments for the treatment of sunburns, bruises and insect bites.
